3 days seems to be a good compromise if you want to have time to see the principal temples as well as discover more remote temples.

Including three days of visits to the main temples of the Small Circuit and the Big Circuit. Guided tours by an English speaking professional guide, included transport. A morning with boat trip to see the fishing villages on the lake Tonle Sap.

Day 1: Siem Reap - Arrival (L)

Arrival at Siem Reap by plane or boat. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Lunch at local restaurant. Visit the temple of Preah Khan. Built by King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a row of galleries and doors becoming lower as we approach the center (to show respect). Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Siem Reap (B,L)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning , visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat . The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing (Beijing) . Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the masterpiece of the 12th century is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture . Angkor Wat combines two basic architecture of Khmer temples : the temple mountain and the later galleried temple . It is designed to represent Mount Meru , home of the gods in Hindu mythology. Within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 km long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the other. In the center of the temple stands a quincunx of towers .
Lunch at local restaurant. Visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom which occupies a total area of 9 km ². We will discover the Bayon temple erected by the Buddhist king Jayavarman VII mountain which is the geometric center of Angkor Thom , the Baphuon , royal temple built in the middle of the eleventh century , whose carved decoration is a great delicacy, the terrace of the Elephants , in which the king and his court attended the games and processions , and the terrace of the Leper King , where you can admire a statue of a Judge of Hell with demonic appearance. Dinner at local restaurant and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3: Siem Reap - Lake Tonle Sap - departure (B,L)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning , transfer to Banteay Srei temple (10th century ) , regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art . Visit the floating village of Chong Khneas , located 10 kilometers south of Siem Reap. Take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap, the " Great Lake " of Cambodia, one of the largest in Asia.
To make your journey more flexible visiting the Tonle Sap could also be replaced by the following tours :
Visit Banteay Srei temple (10th century). Continue to visit Banteay Samre , one of the most complete complexes at Angkor due to restoration using the method of anastylosis - archaeological term for the technique of reconstruction of a monument in ruins due to the systematic review adjustment of the various elements of its architecture.

The name " Samre " refers to an ethnic group of mountain people , who inhabited the region at the base of Phnom Kulen and were probably related to the Khmers . No listing was found for this temple , but the architecture is of the classic art of the middle period similar to Angkor Wat . The proportions of Banteay Samre are splendid. A unique feature is an interior moat with laterite paving, which when filled with water gives an ethereal atmosphere to the temple .
Lunch at local restaurant.
Visit " Les Artisans d' Angkor - Chantiers Ecoles " of Siem Reap and free time at the local market (if time permits ) . Transfer to Siem Reap for departure flight to the next destination airport .
