Puebla cultivated the most diverse genres of popular Cuban music; all strained with the rhythmical and styled characteristics that they demand, adding his poet skill using interlaced quatrains with chorus. The extensive repertory recreates an immense generic spectrum, in respect of the pure roots of the heap and origin of ours rhythms and popular forms of the Cuban song like the Son, Bolero, Guaracha, Sucu sucu, Conga and Guajira.
 

“Los Tradicionales” (The Traditionals) have been one of the permanents musical charms of the Cuban island. They have gotten big national and international hits. In Cuba, during the decades 60th and 70th, its music was heard in all the radio stations of the country with songs like “Quiero hablar contigo” (“I'd like to talk with you”) and “Hasta Siempre, comandante”, which has been covered by dozens of artists from all over the world, notably in France, by Nathalie Cardone and Buena Vista Social Club.

In their multiple international tours, they performed in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Germany, Belgian, Denmark, Spain, France, Finland, Greece, Holland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Portugal, Swiss, Korea, Mongolia and Angola.

After Carlos Puebla’s death (July 12th, 1989), “Los Tradicionales” rested inactive. Later, in 2000, by demand of the Province Centre of Popular Music Ignacio Piñeiro, “Los Tradicionales” were reorganized by Alexis Velázquez, on the way to keep the principle of preserve all the patrimonial values of Cuban music.
