Hue Thai Hoa Palace to undergo restoration (14-08-2017   20:01:00)

The throne of the emperors under the Nguyễn Dynasty (1803 – 1945) in Thái Hoà Palace will be moved to a safe place to make room for restoration of the interior of the palace from now to August 10, according to the Huế Monuments Conservation Centre.

Phan Thanh Hải, director of the centre, was quoted by Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) newspaper as saying that the palace has seriously deteriorated because of inclement weather.

Built in 1805, Thái Hoà Palace is considered one of the most important structures of the Huế Imperial Citadel where Nguyễn emperors reigned over the country for 143 years.

Recently, the former Huế Imperial Citadel in the central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế was recognised as one of seven leading tourist destinations of Việt Nam in 2017 at the Việt Nam Tourism Awards ceremony.

The Huế Imperial Citadel will be open to the public at night from late April to September 20. Opening hours are from 7 pm to 10pm daily. Admission tickets are VNĐ120,000 for Vietnamese and VNĐ150,000 for foreigners. — VNS
